In 1989, John joined HUD as part of the Office of Administration and Management Services, Visual Arts Department as a photographer where he became staff photographer to the then HUD Secretary Jack Kemp.
John continued providing photography and video production services to successive
HUD Secretaries, the
Hon. Henry Cisneros,
Hon. Andrew Cuomo,
Hon. Mel Martinez, and
Hon. Alphonso Jackson.
In 1996 several new HUD Departmental initiatives emerged with the establishment of the HUD Training Academy (HTA), which required an integrated approach to the delivery of training to employees, with a technology component to accomplish this management initiative.
It was during this time that John became a part of this newly formed organization and contributed video production skills as a member of HTA’s Program Technical Institute, where he would later be consulted as the Departmental expert on video production and audiovisual initiatives and provide assistance to cabinet level agencies in the planning and development of their respective Distance Learning Training initiatives.
Before retiring after 40 years of Federal government service, John served as the Chief of HUD's Broadcasting Branch where he was responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the HUD Television Network and Distance Learning Studio.
